CMOS Webcam

Post by Davegn »

Hi all,

Test trying a shot of Jupiter with it's moon Io using a CMOS webcam with my C6.
Seems like i m only able to take it in black and white.

No tracking mount used. Tracking with by turning slow mo cables very slowly. [smilie=bleeding.gif]

Recording time: 120 sec
Around 1500 Frames stack together.
Lightly processed.

Can advice to improve my shot?

Would try more CMOS webcam when i have the chance. :mryellow:

wow! that's pretty good for having no motorized RA! better than my last efforts...

[smilie=admire.gif] now that is more worthy of praise than a really good shot taken with an expensive setup...

Nice photos bro! Can see some nice data captured and they are begging to be further photoshopped. :)

This is my quick 1-min photoshop using these images you have uploaded here.

Will get the original video capture from you and do a better job when I have the time. Looks like this $20 commercially-still-available webcam is going to be a mini legend soon. [smilie=angel.gif]

Thanks cataclysm and orly_andico, for your words of encouragement. :)

Thanks Gary for the help in processing the photos and for the words of encouragement.
Will spend more time to test try other webcams to get better results.
and will upload more photos here on other webcam soon when the weather clears up :)

since i have the time now, i tried to process it using photoshop. tried to bring out the colors without distorting the image it self.

and this is what i got.

Thanks,

Hi Orly,

I used a Logitech Webcam C170 (http://www.logitech.com/en-sg/product/8113?crid=34)
i may want to mod it.

What i did was to removed the IR filter and the lens which came with it.
This webcam has it limitation due to the drives.
most of the settings in the webcam is set to full auto and you are not able to by pass it.

Will share with you the pics on the modding when i have the time.

I will be trying more CMOS webcams to have better results.
and will post them here, so stay tune for any updates.

Thanks,
Dave Ng
