Re: C/2012 S1 (ISON) in Nov 2013 - Brightest Comet Ever?

Post by Sam Lee »

FYI for folks using the Stellarium software, you can import in Comet ISON by following the steps below

1) In Stellarium press F2 to bring up configuration window
2) Plugin
3) Solar System Editor
4) Configure
5) Solar System
6) Import orbital elements in MPC format
7) Select Comets
8) Choose "MPC's list of observable comets" from the list
9) Check the comet of your choice and hit "Add objects"

You can then search the object by hitting F3.

Here's the latest update on Comet ISON:

Comet ISON Spotted Again, and Not Looking Good
http://www.skyandtelescope.com/news/hom ... 32571.html

These days, the comet is only at around 6 degrees above the eastern horizon, viewed from Singapore, at 6:15am. However, at mag 14, it probably won't even be imagable from here, at least for a while.

Dr Richard Miles of the British Astronomical Association (Asteroids and Remote Planets Section Director) does not concur with the sentiments expressed in this Sky&Tel article.

Haha no worries. Am anticipating late Sept-early Oct to get more clarifications from images like NASA's MRO, and heck, maybe even Curiosity.
Thanks.
