interesting, but i would fail 1 and 2 due to their choice of mount. syntha mounts are not well known to be great, anything below their eq4 is pretty annoying in the long run. they lack a proper wormtooth gear in the declination shaft, which prohibits the continous motion of the declination, this is for the eq-3 version. the eq1 and 2 are even more strip down versions, i need not elaborate any further.

as for 3, i admit defeat, that would be something decent.

Hi,
Ya.. EQ1 & EQ2 are not so good, but their EQ3-2 are quite good. I have use it for quite some time.

Anyway, you can always get the AZ3 mount, which I think will be a lots better than the EQ1 and EQ2... and I think the total cost will still be under S$1K.

Have a nice day.

A dobsonian is a cost-effective scope for anyone. We (in Thailand) usually starts with the 6 " YUPA150 dobsonian which is made in Thailand. It costs about US$250. You can find more information from

BTW, I am not related to the dealer.
