Re: Vivo City Polyastro Sidewalk - (28 april 2013)
Was there this evening without my scope because I saw that the cloud cover was 100% like the whole day. Imagine my surprise when it partially cleared up to yield good views of Jupiter and Saturn! Had a good time talking to many people. Hopefully some will take up astronomy!
Thanks to Melcom and the gang from SP, NP and all those participating schools including Galaxy CC who set up the event. The cloudy skies aside, I would say we had a good turn out and I managed to catch up with old friends like Junwei etc. Congrats to the organising team for a successful event and thanks for inviting us too!

Thanks for the report Airconvent. Congrats to the organisers, telescope volunteers and helpers for creating astro awareness in a public place! Hope to see more of such sidewalks in the future.

Re: Vivo City Polyastro Sidewalk - (28 april 2013)
It was a memorable event indeed!
I too had thought that it would likely be totally cloudy last night since that was the sky condition throughout the daytime. Fortunately, clear patches developed at around 7pm and it was partly clear/cloudy till 10pm when the event ended. We managed to show Jupiter and Saturn, plus some general stars when those planets were obscured.
For the record, the event was held on the night of Saturn's Opposition. I had great views of it through Moo Ey's 8" Portaball (formerly owned by VinSnr and Acc I think) and Kelvin's Tak [edit] Mewlon 210: the views were rock steady through the Tak at around 10pm when the seeing in our tropical skies was very steady.
Here is a photo of two young kids peeking through my scope at Jupiter. I think the organisers took lots of other photos.
