Mac's presence is indeed far reaching
Dave - It is said that loop prominences can be found above a very large flare. So it is possible that the loop prominence that I've posted was caused by the flare from AR 1748 (just numbered). It has grown from strength to strength. It had X1.7 eruption when I was imaging it. 14 hours later it became a X2.8 class flare. 9 am today it became a X3.2 class flare. Like what Mr Chia said, these are the strongest flares this year and they signal an increase in solar activity.
I first spotted the flare yesterday when I was doing a close-up imaging of the very huge AR 1745. It was very bright as seen in this image.
Upon closer look, I saw the loops, just part of it. Then I decided to zoom in to it and wow, saw the full loop.
Mr Chia - the flare and loop prominences were near AR 1745. Today we know that the nearer sunspot is AR1748
