Modding my Canon EOS 1000D

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Ahaha you're welcome! Anyway, I decided to mod this only because I just bought the Canon 70D [smilie=embarrassed.gif]

Nice shot Sivakis! 4 nice stars in a line near War & Peace Nebula. Hope you don't mind I do a quick edit on your photo to make it look less reddish. :)

Seeing Milky Way captured in Singapore never fails to cheer me up and inspire us to continue to walk the talk.

Thanks Gary!

Yeah, I was thinking it might be clouds until I checked a 30-sec exposure i did and realised it was static - i.e. not clouds :D

Anyway, noticed i was getting some trails at 8sec exposure. Not sure why. Will need to test with other lenses to see if that's the issue.

Here are 2 more edits of the same pic :)

Revisiting M7 and the Butterfly cluster.

Canon EOS 1000Da
EF-S 55-250 @ 135mm / F5.0
8 x 2 sec

Much better than the 50mm lens.

PP'ed in Photoshop.

Enjoy [smilie=cheer.gif]

Shot of the Moon on 2013-09-12. Was a bit irritated at first that it was in the way of stars, but what the heck.

Nice shots! Thanks for sharing.

The stars have some light spikes because of post processing or was there in the original shot? The Moon shot is over sharpened by does create a nice surface 3D bump effect!

Good eyes! :mryellow:

Yeah, the spikes were PP'ed in to create a subtle diffusion effect on M7 and Butterfly.

Moon was deliberately oversharpened to create, as you said, a more dramatic effect.

The wonders of a cheap $300++ EF-S lens never ceases to amaze me [smilie=admire2.gif]
