Took this image of orion nebula using slightly longer exposure than my previous image. I managed to process it until I got this. The nebula seems to have more detail. I think I can see the trapezium if I zoom in more. Messier 43 also stands out much better than my previous image. Also, I can see the running man nebula although it's quite dim. I am just trying to find a way to get rid of the uneven field illumination. The centre looks brighter than the sides or edges.

Thanks clovisity. Will try adding flats next time.
Re: Orion Nebula taken on 7 Feb 2014
Nice shot of Orion Nebula Alex, sufficient details, star rounds, data has choice of contrasty with aggressive curve stretching + cropping (see attached) or normal stretched. Running Man is visible indeed ! Congratulations, you are now going down to the mountain liao ! n.b. If this is take from Changi, the background will be much darker and blend in as dark background all together, therefore will not see the 4 dark corners effect even if it is there! Of course using a Field Flatenner will be better solution ...

Get fitswork.
Use the workflow Automatic Flattening for Nebula.
Voila.
Flats are still better but fitswork works for the lazy.

Peter: Going down the mountain or going up?
Anyway, I am still far from the peak. Have lots to learn.
