B347 -Butterfly Nebula

Post by kimo »

B347 or IC 1318, also known as the Bufferfly Nebula, mag 11. Actually I took one part of the reason as I was working on 3 objects with particular local lengths. Later, I added this nebula so it became 4 at a time interval of 1/2 hour, 4.15 am to 6.30 am. it wasn't easy to manage each object exposure time within this time frame. Times require to object alignments, filter and focusing.

I am still learning to processing DSO imaging. I don't have very good software .............. [smilie=cute.gif]

Note. Image was taken using Ha filter only. I tried on OIII but nothings came out so didn't go further.

Thanks

Hi Kimo,

Nice image.
Are you imaging from Singapore.
In my case, now-a-days, I do not get any signal at all through H-alpha filter (5 nm) even after exposing for 15 minutes. After stretching only I can see the shadow of the image. It was not like that in January.
The sky looks so Hazy and reddish.
I think by early morning time haze clears a bit.

Hi kochu, Thanks. yes, it was taken from Singapore. now a days, I am not taking images at evening time, mostly after late night or early morning. you have much more btr camera & scope then mine so should be ok. may be you have to check your sky limit. I also can't do long exposure usually less then 10mins.
