M31 and M27 from Singapore
Re: M31 and M27 from Singapore
Thanks Gary, Remus and Orly! I shot using about 100 x 30sec exposures at FL of 800mm at f/4 (8" newt). The light pollution at changi seaside is so low, you can visually see the milky way.

I am gaining more knowledge from his thread, if Newtonian is worth then to get a refractor! he is using only CG5 mount for 8" Newtonian. i think it's too heavy for this mount. nice image.

You are right. I am undermounting it. I initially bought the newt for my cgem, but its now experiencing issues with power stability...

Can you provide a Google Maps link to that location? or is that the Changi Beach spot where Peter Loo also does his stuff?
And what is the power instability issue?

I'm not sure where it is exactly. It's around changi airbase area. My friend drove us in. Apparently its not completely legal to enter, since the police told us we were supposed to leave (thankfully they let us stay for the night). Unfortunately, I doubt we can go back there, since we now know its out of bounds to the public. Don't think its the same as peter loo's place. It's really ulu...

Very nice photos Ivan. Time to learn AP from you!
Re: M31 and M27 from Singapore
Thanks george! There's stuff we've got to learn from each other. I need to learn how to improve my post processing too! Luckily we made the decision to go and shoot that night. lol
