Here's the same image of the zodiacal light, to which I've added annotations and a line showing the position of the ecliptic. The line was carefully drawn based on what's shown in a planetarium software (SkySafari for Android).

The following is an image which I took showing the Milky Way above us. Thanks to KKK for lending me his 8mm Sigma fisheye lens for this shot! Canon EOS 60D 15s ISO 3200. Lens at f/2.8.

(The Dark Horse dark nebula complex can be clearly seen in the central bulge of the Milky Way.)
