After several weeks of arrangement, liasing and getting the location framework up for the festival:
SINGASTRO is pleased to be able to present SINGASTRO FESTIVAL 2004,
the first ever astronomy symposium designed to bring local astronomers together to network and savor the latest scope
systems, hear about the imaging technologies, attend a wide range of astronomy lectures, and participate in outdoor
observing programs.
SF2004 is held over two days - November 12 and 13, 2004 (Friday, Saturday) and caters to all amateur astronomers and like-
minded enthusiasts in the region. The festival line-up of events will be up soon on the SINGASTRO forum (festival section)
but all attendees can expect the following activities:
- Talks/lectures covering a broad range of astronomy topics
- Quizzes & Lucky Draws
- "My Telescope" Equipment Displays by volunteering astronomers
- Used-equipment and books exchange
- Daytime/Nightime observing programs
- Astrophotography Gallery Exhibition featuring works from budding astroimagers
and more.
Location: The Concourse, Singapore Polytechnic (near Dover MRT)
Directions to the location will be specified in the SINGASTRO forum (festival section).
All interested attendees can register online at: www.singastro.org/fest2004/index.htm
The SF2004 organising committee would strongly urge any SINGASTRO subscriber to contribute their astrophotography images
for display during at the Gallery (either print or electronic or both).
More details to come from the SF2004 Gallery Director, Jiin.
Volunteering Coordinators: We are still in need of more coordinators for the event, especially in areas of logistics, event-handling
and the observing programs. The Gallery sub-committee would also welcome individuals willing to lend a helping hand in the gallery set-up.
Hope to see everyone there at SF2004!
