well, who knows, it might not be approved. Pleasing your allies > taking care of astronomical society. Thats the policy of Bush. But of course, he must have realised how big the astronomical bunch in US is. maybe he wanna use it as a last card in the elections

The astronomical bunch in US is still relatively small compared to the rest of the voters who arent interested in astro, of course pleasing your allies>taking care of astronomical society. Even the IDA has difficulty putting its points across. An article in S & T (Aug 2004) quoted that a streetlight had been installed near an astronomer's home. :(
