WTS : Coronado PST Telescope - Item no longer for sale
Hi all! I would like to sell off my solar telescope for $900 in order to purchase other equipment. More info about the telescope can be found at this link http://www.meade.com/product_pages/coro ... es/pst.php. PM me if interested.

Re: WTS Coronado PST Telescope
How much and how long did you bought the PST for? Because I honestly think the $900 2nd hand price is overpriced.
I just bought a PST from eBay for SGD 1077 a month ago, shipping and 7% charge included. So your 2nd price doesn't strike me as reasonable if you really want to get people interested in buying your PST. Not to mention that solar scopes like the PST has a deadline whereby eventually dread rust builds upon it, thus further diminishing the value of a 2nd hand solar scope depending on how long you have owned it and how often you had used it.
Just giving my 2 cents.

1. How much I bought the pst for does not matter. I might have bought it at $1k, $2k, $3k or whatever as long as I don't sell it higher than the original equipment manufacturers price. Whether the price is reasonable or not is up to the person. If you think that it is overpriced then you or anyone else can choose not to buy it. It's not as if I am forcing or begging anyone to buy it.
How long I have been using it also does not really matter as long as it is in good working condition. If anyone is interested I will definitely be more than willing to let that person test it out to see whether it is working and whether it's condition is acceptable to him/her.
2. Good to hear that you got your pst from eBay. Any equipment not just solar scopes will be prone to rust, dust, dirt, slime or whatever if you do not take care or maintain the equipment. If you know the pst will eventually have a build up of rust or have any other disadvantages or problems, why did you spend $1077 on it then? FYI, I have not seen any rust on my pst.

I am not attacking and have no hostility against Alex; and I have no stakes or interests in the outcome for posting my candid opinions.MystiQ wrote:Hi Valdric,Dark Neptune wrote:How much and how long did you bought the PST for? Because I honestly think the $900 2nd hand price is overpriced.

It is against B&S rules to "attack" a seller on their price. It is entirely up to the seller to state their price. If there is a willing buyer, the deal goes thru.
Buy and Sell is for forumers to buy and sell their equipment and not for equipment talk. Equipment talk should be done in equipment discussion forum. Besides your statementment on "rust" is unfounded if the item has been kept very well. Your post is affecting Alex sales.
Hope you understand
I just find it unjust it's the 2nd hand price is quite high, and usually it's more fair to at least state how much you bought the telescope for, for potential buyers to better evaluate the decision as to whether or not to make the purchase. Considering the fact that not all people viewing this forum are as experienced as some of the rest of you.
I am not trying to sabotage any sales, but simultaneously I can't live with something I know that seems unfair. If there was a short period of time between the date of original purchase and now, then yes $900 seems alright. And I am not interested in talking about equipment in the wrong forum; I just simply want to make sure that it's also fair for any potential buyer to be given sufficient information in the main OP to make their decision. (Rough date of purchase + original price of purchase, to give buyers the main information they need to gauge whether or not this is a good deal, considering that this is the PST after all..)
Thanks.

I will give a brief answer to #2 otherwise I will get called out for turning this into the equipment forum.aleetk wrote:Hi ValdricDark Neptune wrote:How much and how long did you bought the PST for? Because I honestly think the $900 2nd hand price is overpriced.

Because I do not plan on using it often, thus preserving the shelf life of the PST for several years; divided the $1077 into several years, if spending hundreds yearly for say the next 4 years grants my other less financially capable astronomy friends and other members of the general public during future solar sidewalk astronomy sessions, access to such a premium scope and see solar features like never before, then the money is well spent.
Thanks.

Hi Valdric
You might be so well mean to let buyers aware of the item maybe is overpriced and just want to highlight to the seller but can't you just do it thru personal messages instead of making so loud feedbacks here.
I cannot understand why a friend can openly attack on his friend's sale in the forum.
Thomas.
