Hi Guys...
Planing to sell off my mount and the new scope. I only used the 8" f/5 Celestron reflector once but I don't see myself getting into astronomy actively for awhile. Will be shifting house end of this year and need to get rid of stuff.
The mount is Hypertuned LXD55 mount. This mount comes with a portable pier so it's ultra-stable for the scope. Also, with peir, you don't have the problem of weights clashing with the legs. If you want that aluminum tripod back..I can pass it to you. As for the mount, it comes with a hypertuned cert..and a checklist showing all kind of improvements made on it. The Autostar software is version 30 I think. Also two set of weights. Enough firepower and stability even if you want to mount a bigger scope on it. Pier makes hell lots of difference to the stability of the mount.
Everything is in great condition. I will only sell as a bundle...I will not separate unless there are two orders, one for the scope, another for the mount.
I spent $1000 bucks on the scope and the mount almost $2000 bucks inclusive of all the improvements (imagine my cost of sending that heavy mounthead to US for hypertuning. The airmail cost bothways is almost a bomb) and the portable pier (again the airmail cost for the pier is not cheap too)
Whole package to go at $2000 bucks.
FS : Hypertuned GOTO LXD55 mount + 8" F/5 Celestron
Since so far no firm buyer....I decide to do a one time big reduction! If it doesn't sell at this price...I am gonna keep it
$1500 for all (i must be bonkers!)
This is what you get
1) Hypertuned GOTO LXD55 mount with Autostar.
2) A portable Pier for added stability and to avoid weights obstructing leg issue. I can pass you back the aluminum tripod if you want.
3) Celestron 8" f/5 newtonian reflector. Wonderful star test. These Chinese mirrors surprise me all the time.
(brand new!)
Total cost for everything including shipping from States is almost 3K. Just to get the mount hpyertuned (sending it to US and back again) is already 500 dollars.
I just don't have the time now to get into Astro actively and I am shifting house end of this year...so best it goes. 1500 BUCKS FOR EVERYTHING!

Ok guys...I got a swarm of offers.......and some asked what is hypertune. Hypertune is a service offered by LXD55.com to gurantee the mount works as it should. I have attached a cert below. Notice that at the right bottom corner, there is a number #0129. This is the same number shown on the plate mounted on the mount, certifying it has been hypertuned.
Because there are many offers now....I hope you guys can be a little fair to me. My reserve price is at 1500. You should know how much loss I have to incur. So offer me a good price. If anyone can offer me 1700, I will sell to that person immediately....if not, I will just let this ad run for a week and see who is the highest bidder.
Thanks

sorry... but perhaps this could be one of the reasons?

The LXD55 is no longer on sale. According to the website, the price of the newer and similar 8" SCT improved model LXD75 is around S$3000 inclusive of shipping.kingkong wrote:VinSnr wrote:Guys..no comments? Don't you all think my price is cheap?

The older LXD 55 series has quite a few reported optimisation problems with the mount. What Vincent is trying to say is his mount went through a super charging process in the US ($$$) and the mount is not only cured of all potential problems but has improved performance over the "regular" LXD55 mounts.
The only problem is the size of this mount. You will need your own tranport to actually use it around Singapore and it will appeal to people who have 8" OTA or bigger. Any smaller would probably be an overkill unless it is for a smaller scope.
Anyway, vincent good luck on your sale. if you don't sell the mount by Nov, maybe you want to bring it for Singatro Festival 2004?

i thought he's selling an 8" newtonian?Airconvent wrote:The LXD55 is no longer on sale. According to the website, the price of the newer and similar 8" SCT improved model LXD75 is around S$3000 inclusive of shipping.
i'm sure a hypertuned lxd55 would normally be quite attractive, to me at least. as vincent pointed out the shipping to & fro is prohibitive. perhaps if he post some examples of photos taken with the mount will sway someone considering a budget entry to astrophotography.
there are some positives news on the net that the lxd75 is an improvement over lxd55. no one has come up with a hypertune package yet perhaps it's still too early in the product life cycle. i may post a review when i receive mine - if & when i find time to write it up.
before i'm too far OT, i'll say the portable pier included is very attractive too.
i would venture that the offer should be most attractive to people considering entry to astrophotography. would be difficult to find any thing lighter, or cheaper, than the lxd55 mount for that purpose.

Actually, he bought an LXD55 SC-8. He sold off the 8" SCT earlier to Chung Hooi. Apart from the mount, he added a half pier so that we can use the mount in our latitude without having the counterweight hit the mount at low declination.kingkong wrote: i thought he's selling an 8" newtonian?
