SINGASTRO ASTRONOMY FESTIVAL 2004
---------------------------------
The Astronomers from SINGASTRO and the SINGAPORE
POLYTECHNIC are pleased to present SINGASTRO FESTIVAL
2004, the first ever astronomy symposium designed to
bring local astronomers (and anyone keen to know more
about astronomy) together to learn more about
astronomy, catch sights of the latest astronomy
equipment for observation and imaging, attend various
talks ranging from beginning astronomy to
astrophotography, astronomy quizzes, observing the sun
with exciting filters, stargazing, attend a unique
showcase collection of astrophotographs taken by our
very own local astronomers, and many more.
This event will be held at The Concourse within the
grounds of the SINGAPORE POLYTECHNIC (held over two days - November 12
and 13, 2004).
It will commence on November 12th in the evening, with a talk on
practical astronomy at 7PM at the Concourse Theatre (next to the
Concourse) by veteran astronomer, Mr Vincent Kee. This will be
followed by an evening stargazing session hosted by Mr Teng Weixiong
and his Outdoor sub-committee people. The stargazing will end at 10PM,
weather permitting.
On Novemeber 13th (Saturday), the FESTIVAL will open its doors to the
public at the Concourse at 1030AM, with participant registration at
the door. Map directions to the EXACT LOCATION OF THE CONCOURSE will
be uploaded to the FESTIVAL website soon, to be announced here
shortly. The FESTIVAL will last throughout the day all the way till
night, ending with a second stargazing session. The tentative schedule
for the day includes: 3 talks, one astronomy quiz, Astronomy Xchange
(used astronomy equipment and books transactions), Vendor booths,
electronic gallery display, print gallery exhibits, SINGASTRO
Slideshow Showcase (chronicles from its birth till present day), "My
Telescope" equipment display by various SINGASTRO members, solar
observing, and many more.

Again, if you have not registered with us to attend this event, please
do so at www.singastro.org and click on the top banner.

Some updates for the upcoming SINGASTRO FESTIVAL 2004:
1) We need more SINGASTRO volunteers to come forth with their personal
equipment for display at the Concourse on Nov 13th. Please contact Mr
Michael Mathews (Logistics Sub-Comm Director,
philosopher_philosophy@hotmail.com) for this.

2) If you are bringing equipment for (1), and would also like to use
it during the outdoor observing sessions (solar, night), please
contact Mr Teng Weixiong (traveler@singastro.org) AS WELL.

3) We require two digital projectors for the Concourse display area.
If anyone has, or knowledge of resources for these projectors, please
let us know.

4) We would welcome anyone who is able to come forth with refreshments
for the poor volunteers who are working hard for this event! So far,
Faizal has volunteered drinks. Any others? :-)))

5) We need more PRINT images submissions for the Gallery Exhibit!! If
you have beautiful pictures of atmospheric elements such as the
setting/rising sun, planetary conjunctions, perhaps a moonbow,
rainbow, all these will do too! Please register the these images if
you are keen. The dateline is approaching, and the Gallery Sub-comm
would need to work on them soon. Thanks!

That's about all for now!

See you ALL at the event!

Best Regards,
Remus Chua
