Dude, why are you so secretive about this whole thing?

If you want to invite, then be open about it and tell us the whole damn thing. This is not a guessing game.

People has been asking you what is this PORA thing all about and all you do is to give scant information here and there.

No dates, no time, no venue and no information about this organisation at all. We don't even know what it stands for.

If you want to invite, then please be sincere.

that's because I already know what Nike is before I bought it and the info is freely available on the web. i did a search for your org and event and it turned out nothing. I hope this is not a clever ploy to market time-share holiday schemes.

Hi,

By been so secretive about this event and organisation, you are making people wondering is this an illegal organisation or what... hee hee... just joking

By the way, according to the Greek mythology, Nike was the goddess of victory.

Have a nice day.

The last time I attended a 'secret' presentation, I found out it was for a multi-level marketing (MLM) plan. :D

Seriously, if you have so many affiliated clubs and having international guests, surely you could give more info. If you have VIPs and VVIPs coming, surely it would not be so hush-hush.

Also, extremely low-cost research sound like an oxymoron to me. Good research costs good money. The funding must come from somewhere.

Do volunteer more info as it is beginning to sound like some meeting for a cult group! :D

really? do you know that Nike was Blue Ribbon Sports before 1972 and nike is the name for greek winged goddess of victory? i don't think you need to know such info before buying their products. back to the topic, we did have a website before. unfortunately, it was pulled down due to too many defacements. i don't really know much about time-share holiday schemes. you can be sure we are not making a single cent out from you. first, we do not charge for admission fees (you do not incur any charges unless you try to order items (eg. drinks, food, etc) at the event itself; those will be charged by the organisation providing us the venue, not by us.) second, for every additional person, we have to pay more. i don't really think we stand to gain anything. the management decides to allow public access for 2 reasons, first, we found more sponsors than before and secondly, it's pretty useless for us to display stuff to those who have exposure to such stuff.

dear weixing, not illegal, just not enough cash to spare for promoting the club and not enough manpower to maintain a large club.

dear kayheem, i don't think we have anything for you to market for us, :) actually, i can give info, it's just that i don't know what kind of info you want me to provide, hehe. extremely low-cost means every single cent is put into very good use, nothing is wasted. i do agree that good research costs good money, but then, most of the research institutions spend more than they actually need to, :) cult meeting? more of like a meeting for crazy pple. crazy ideas are always welcome in PORA. example of a crazy idea: if there's ice on mars, y not we melt them and build a pipe from mars to singapore so that our water issues are solved.

sounds like some sci fi geek convention to me, as we all know that it is not really practical to do that.

But that aside, what are the requirements for attending the convention? Lowest education level? What kind of subject/issues must we be good at? What kind of skills do you expect people to have attending this convention?

So it is a meeting, a convention, what kind of specific topics are being discuss? Attended by who? What kind of VIPs? Can you name a few? What are we expected to do there?

Please, there are so many unanswered questions, at least give us some information, because I don't think people will believe you if you remain so elusive about this things.

h3xal, u may be right, haha. sounds like not practical, but if you do consider all alternative ideas, this may be the cheapest and practical around, :)

it will be a meeting cum convention cum tradeshow cum gallery. we are trying to squeeze everything to save costs. the minimum requirements are that you should not be visually handicapped (blind) and must be able to understand and speak english. special arrangement will be done for those who are physically handicapped (please do notify us beforehand). you are not required to be good in anything although an interest in astronomy is preferred.

The topics being discussed for Astronomy will be Future of Astronomy, Advancements in Astronomical Technologies, Space Travel and Colonisation, Extraterrestrial Detection and Communication and Use of Active Detection Technologies in Astronomy. More may be added depending on the schedule itself. IAGM 04/05 will be attended by RKA representatives (and its affiliate), ESC representatives (and its affiliate), NASA representatives (and its affiliate), NASDA representatives (and its affiliate), ISRO representatives (and its affiliate) and CNES representatives (and its affiliate) [current list]. Those are the VVIPs. As for VIPs, it would be our HODs from PORA@INT. Numerous researchers from our labs would also be there to answer any of your enquires during the Technology showcase. FYI, you may not be able to see all the VVIPs mentioned as it is optional for them to be present during public events. If they are around, please remember not to harass them (we have bad experiences with this before). You are expected to give your views, but then, it's totally optional. Since it's designed to be an informal event, please do mingle around and freely express your views. Do remember to make use of this chance to grab as much of the knowledge around as possible (not contact nos).

if you are interested in other areas of science than astronomy, do let me know so i can try to allocate you to a conference of your interest, :) sorry for causing so much questions, first time posting an event announcement on a forum, sorry again, :)
