Hi,
So kind of odd weixing so quiet tonight...
So quiet mean I was out there in the field talking to someone lor... Ha Ha Ha :P :P :P

My old observation friend like to join me tonight, So I was back to my old Tampines Observation site... too bad the area is getting worst. Now almost all the security flood light of the Mosque is facing a little more upward and shine directly at us. Also their giant "laser point" seem to be getting more and more powerful and also more taller grass (too long never observe there??) and more insects :( :( I think next time have to try the big field across the road opposite the Mosque if going observe in Tampines.... but heard that the area will be building a few new HDB soon :( :( :(

Anyway, didn't do much observation... just look at the usual objects and mostly talking and enjoy the show "Thumb war" in my PDA Ha Ha Ha :P :P :P

By the way, the weather is very good tonight... hope chris yeo enjoy himeself in Changi.

Have a nice day.

PS: Tachyon... That's a "bird of metal" la :P :P :P There is one in my image also... may be it the same one Ha Ha Ha :P :P :P

hi charlie,
I also took some 8 sec shots from my home but except for the stars, can't make out any milky way there. my camera in manual mode was set to ISO100. Should I have set it to ISO400? I'm using a Lumix FZ5 which I did not buy for astrophotogeaphy since its longest exposure in ANY mode is 8 seconds!

Here is my effort :

Lesson: Always 'chiong' ulu-ulu places. Staying at home sees no MW!!
Its a good site, the Changi reclaimed land is. But soft soil, inaccessible with virtually no landmarks makes it to the once-in-a-long-while site.

ISO400 in urban areas cant bring out any MW...

After so many days of bad weather, this evening was really excellent. Looked out and saw this:
It was quite amazing to see the planets hanging in the sky.. looked like some alien space craft..

After that, went to Changi to ob.
Was the best southern sky I've seen in Singapore yet.. had a lot of fun with the usual suspects in the area.

One very interesting cluster I stumbled across for the first time was NGC 2681 in Scorpius. It had a very interesting 'christmas tree' shape. I've attached a photo from the web of what I saw in the eyepiece.
