Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
so, after the change, can u remove the entire focuser by just unthreading the collet? is it much easier than removing the old focuser? is the total length of the OTA after removing the focuser less than 55cm?
TIA for answering these questions
i'm looking for something i can carry onboard a plane (i used to carry a C8, but it's a bit too bulky and the fov is too narrow)
hmm..yeah, u unthread the collet and the whole focuser just comes off..something like what stellarvue purports their SV102ED to do..
the total length of the OTA after removing the focuser is 50 cm. from the cover of the dewshield right to the end of the focuser adaptor portion.
to remove the old focuser, you would have to use a hex wrench to take out 3 grub screws that hold the rotating focuser portion to the adaptor, kinda troublesome..with the collet, you just have to unscrew the collet and it comes off..
hope this answer your queries...
but carrying up a plane..hmm..it's a bit heavy i think...
as long as the weight is less than 7kg and length is 55cm or less, you can carry them on board. I carried either a C8 (50cm length, just nice) or Intes Micro M603 on board a plane a few times.
You can't carry any liquids on board, that includes any oil-spaced APOs ;)
