How to mount rigel finder to WO 90?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

I will testament to that! WD40 is good stuff. Spray some on a clean rag and give ur mount and tripod a good wipe down. It shines, cleans and protects at the same time. Doesnt damage paint at all. Just don't overdo the spray or things get slick and may slip....also residue falls on the floor causing a slip hazard. Spray some on a clean paint brush to reach tight corners and around screw threads and nuts! I keep my tripods this way.

I have check out the HomeFix DIY shop for a 3M double sided tape which is also clear. Yes you can use it at work and its strong, thick and cushy, plus easy to roll off when used.

I just figured out how to attach a finder to these ^%$#@! WO scopes.

At the top of the focuser, on either side of the chromed thumbscrew for rotating the focuser, are two black screws. These are just grub screws.

Remove the screw to the left of the chromed thumbscrew, exposing a 5mm (metric) threaded hole. You can bolt whatever finder you have, into this hole using a commonly-available 5mm bolt.

I'm planning to attach a Rigel to mine tonight.. will see how it goes.

Hi,
IMHO, you should just email William Optics and check with them before you remove any "look useless" screws... just in case.

Have a nice day.

The black screw to the left of the focuser rotation lock thumbscrew is really designed to be removed so you can mount a finder. :-)

And yes, you would need a 5mm screw to mount it although I suspect the W-O finder comes with a screw for it. The existing black grub screw is "headless" and very short so it cannot be used to attach anything.

Challenge is the W-O finder is quite expensive...
