mch3898: Well, if you had seen the hoards of European tourists cramped up at the lookout point, you would not think so! Heh... Anyway, the place is very touristy, the only danger is frost-bite from the cold (0-5 deg C) night air.

swat_pup6433: Yes! Were you there too? Seems like a popular place for tourists to stay!

haha yes! i was there in march! lol too bad that day we had the smoke blowing in our faces when we climbed up bromo. same for mount ijen. thick smoke in our face followed by a nice cold acid rain! LOL i was too busy climbing out of the barricade at the top of bromo down to the slopes in the early morning to take any nice starry shots though~

yes! melvin and adrian! LOL i have a video on their sg trekkers facebook homepage. they are planning on a trip to egypt nx year june and we are planning on the nepal trip in march~ wanna go for the egypt one?

That was the Canon 100-400mm which I also used for the Solar Eclipse shots.

lol u carried the lens all the way for the ijan and bromo trek!? LOL i walked up with my 24-70 with 70-200 and tripod already half dead~

For Bromo, I carried my Tokina 11-16mm, Canon 17-40mm, and 100-400mm - two in my Thinktank pouches, and one fixed to the camera. Since the Landrover drove us up to the viewing point, the load was not exceptional. Then I left everything in the vehicle and only carried the 17-40mm to walk up to the crater rim.

For Ijen, I only carried the the 17-40mm. Anything else and I would have fainted!
