He is keen on a triplet...in fact he was looking at the sky 90 as well, but noticed its a doublet (and a really expensive one)

You can use comgateway.com. They ship with DHL and their rates are competitive with vPost. They also require you to declare the value of your items unlike vPost which requires you to provide an invoice to prove the value of your item, which can be an issue if you buy second hand.

well if you are willing to consider Astro-Tech (which is actually Astronomics owned) the AT106LE triplet is $1500 USD. And it's actually a TMB design (according to the Astro-Tech/Astronomics owner).

And it was going at 1099 just a few weeks ago......
You might want to keep an eye on Astronomics; they do occasionally give unbelievable deals.
Otherwise consider used. You'll save 30-50%, shipping is the same and you might not have to pay GST if the value is low enough :)

Hi bro ...

You should consider this :)

http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid ... -1201-9740

if you sign up at Singastro member and get OPT rewards card, you get another 5% off :)

A good doublet will give you good light throughput and decent images without much CA. ie a decent 120ed doublet can rival a 127ed astrotech or TMB triplet.

thanks for the recommendations but im interested in getting a scope for astrophotography, and i would rather stick with scopes that are known to be able to perform. color correction for triplets are also significantly better than any doublets as far as i know, even a takahashi flourite doublet cant beat most apo triplet.

how do i go about getting the Singastro discount from OPT?

my only concern now is having to use wire transfer to pay for opt purhcase...

r-ion,

OPT might be willing to take credit card if you email or fax them the front and back of the card. That's what Adorama required of me years back...
