Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
Looks great man! Admire your determination to take public transport with the setup ...
BTW, where did you get the Pelican case? Any where that gives a good price? Also, what trolley is that? I was thinking of getting something like that but all I saw were those full metal ones that the "karang guni" man uses. THose are heavy and ugly. Where did you get yours? Is it sturdy?

I got my Pelican case 1550 at John 3:16 in funan centre.

Err... no idea, but I think you can try ClubSnap. I saw someone selling at S$300... slightly cheaper than the price I paid.

I got it from rlow when he found out that he can't use for his 11" F5 dob... the base of the dob is too much bigger than the trolley base. The trolley is Wolfcraft TS 800 ( http://www.wolfcraft.de/jcatalog_genera ... oduct.html ) rated at 90kg. It's quite strong (and heavy) and with big wheels. I think should have no problem with my setup as it's well below 50kg. The only issue is that the base is on the ground which I got problem when trying to secure the case to the trolley. Anyway, I think rlow get it from some DIY shop.
By the way, I haven't field test the setup on actual road condition yet, so can't confirm it'll work out well... hee hee hee
Have a nice day.

hi weixing,
I am very tempted to change the title of this thread from "My Portable Setup" to "What tankees carry in the SAF"
Seriously the equipment that you cart along so easily would have been a tremendous effort for me. I am amazed and impressed you can weekly cart all that equipment down your flat especially since the lift does not stop on your floor! wow!
To me, a portable set up would have been a 90-100mm MCT or a 66-80mm refractor in a camcorder bag, a manfrotto 410 head plus one tripod and a box for some eyepieces....
Bu glad to see you have actually trimmed down your "usual" load now.
This will less likely to scare off newbies!

Hi,
An update on my portable setup:
Vixen R135 Grab and Go
Celestron 8" F5 GRAB/PUSH AND GO
Anyway, the Celestron 8" F5 damping time will be bad, but I think should be ok if use only at low power... at least it is now a viable option of bringing out my Celestron 8" F5 Newtonian for wide field, deep sky viewing without my GPDX mount.
Now waiting for clear sky to test out.
Have a nice day.

Hi,
Tonight tested my Celestron 8" F5 PUSH AND GO setup... Celestron 8" F5 Newtonian + Astro-Slew II + Manfrotto 475B + vibration suppression pad.
The wind was very strong, but the view was still quite steady at 125x. The damping time was around 2s at 250x, so I think should not be a problem for wide field and deep sky viewing. The only issue is the Astro-Slew II seem unable to totally lock down the scope when it point near the Zenith... the scope will start to shift toward the direction where the eyepiece and telrad is located... should able to minimize this issue by rotate the eyepiece and telrad, so that it not on the Altitude direction of the mount or put a small counter-weight on the oppsite side of the tube.
Anyway, was quite happy with the result... finally can use the 8" F5 Newtonian without my GPDX mount... The only problem is the bag was very heavy as everything(C8N OTA + Alstro-slew II + Manfrotto 475B Tripod) was in it... the heaviest single bag I had carry... ha ha ha
Have a nice day.
