CG5 @ 1° N

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

I just saw your post about collecting the incline pier......

Can you tell me who is making these incline pier, and how much is it?
Lead time is how long?

hi James,

it is Mr Khoo Hua Seng whose company Xtrotech Sdn Bhd makes specialty robotics in Shah Alam for the car manufacturers. He is a friend of Robin (Kim Miau) who referred me to him.

the wedge is actually my design :-) There is a flaw in the design though (not fatal, but a slight annoyance) in that the wedge tends to rotate about the CGEM tripod base because it's not fixed in place. A minor issue but I have not gotten around to "fixing" the design flaw because... I already have my wedge.

Mr Khoo has been agreeing to fabricate these items as he is an amateur astronomer himself.

There is one hardcore thing about his history in ATM - he built a GEM from scratch. :)

Back from Shah Alam. Mr Khoo is one cool dude. Getting his company to make the pier is like how Chinese saying goes "using cattle knife to kill chicken". We had lunch and chat about various things. And yeah, he build CGEM from scratch! good grief...

as for the rotation, I will wait for my mount and see for myself. I suppose not difficult to drill and tap an anchor screw in.
