mmm...you are not into astronomy but you have 4--50kg of equipment?lowrobin wrote:Hi there:
I'm new in this forum but not in astronomy, just wonder which part of Dempsey Road you refer to and what is the ground level & finish, cos my equipment weigh approx. 40 - 50 kg, turf is out of the question.
what equipment is that? anyway, "dempsey" refers to the old CMPB camp which has now been converted into a series of shops. Its actually flat roads but not used at night, so no grass anywhere...

I think u had misunderstood me, but what I meant was that I'm not new to astronomy because I have started astronomy since 1976, but due to my work, and I 'm not as young as u, therefore, I have stop the interest for almost 12-13 years, but I owned quiet a few telescopes and couple of accessories.
The 40-50kg of equipment were my C8 & guide scope plus portable pier weight almost 40kgs (I need 4 counter weight to balance my equipment)and the lenes and accessories is almost 8kgs, therefore I need solid ground to rest my instrument.
My biggest problem is that if I cant access to the site by car, I may have a problem to carry all my barang barang to the observation ground, please notify me if anyone wish to be at Demsey Road, I want to travel there to survey the ground, u may PM me again.

What makes you think I'm that young?

Yes...you certainly have alot of equipment.
As I have mentioned, if you are as old as I am, you would probably remember the old CMPB where you went for NS reporting. That's the place.
It consists of a cluster of warehouses with nice roads all round. We normally deploy along the roads. Wide open spaces, dark surroundings and constantly patrolled by our friendly men in blue...
As Mooey would be going there, perhaps you can arrange to meet up with him when he goes there.
As for me, I only pop by if its a non-working day the next day and the sky is very clear!

Sure we can meet up at Dempsey but sky has been very bad the past few weeks....as for your dual axis controller, I don't use it and have absolutely no idea how it operates. Perhaps you can seek Samuel Ng or Vincent's help on this ? BTW Chee Chien came back from overseas already, so our CSN Manager is back on line..ready to activate when sky is clear....
