But its a 0.42MP camera..... Its expensive for that sort of low resolution camera....

Probably yes, compared to 10.7 MP, 1500$ NIGHTSCAPE.

This is price creep of course, but if you're going to spend 1.5K, perhaps the SBIG 8300 M/C may be a better choice at just under 2K, not counting usual discounts. Lower resolution but better quantum efficiency and hardware build.

and you can get them in mono too soon.

SBIG ST 7XME is still being produced and cost more than 4X.

there is more than megapixels involve, maybe something to do with pixel size et al.

maybe some one here can explain.
