Re: SkySafari for Android Video Review
Interesting! The guy is still using Froyo 2.2 ? I just realised my beta version has expired already. In anycase, it looks like a great programme but a pity there is no free version with reduced features like the Pocket Universe. I still have not gotten comfortable transacting on Android yet. But I am impressed its a well thought out programme. It behaves intuitively which is good move. Thanks for sharing!

Re: SkySafari for Android Video Review
I've been buying apps on the Android Market for some years now.
Pity I can't use this! because my cheapo phone is not on Froyo.
The nice thing about SkySafari for Android is that it can connect to scopes using Serial-over-Bluetooth. I would very much like to connect my encoder-equipped mount (with my home-made Arduino-based bluetooth DSC) to SkySafari.
Right now I'm using my DSC with the ASCOM driver + Cartes du Ciel.
After aligning on Algol and Capella (not that far apart), I blind-pointed to M1 last night..
and thar she blows!

(the vague amoeba-like thing in the upper corner) - 5x 120 seconds binned 2x2.
So the DSC is accurate (enough) and would be better with SkySafari for Android, so the laptop can be dedicated to imaging instead of also using it for pointing.
