Opinions Wanted: Best Accessory to Own

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Opinions Wanted: Best Accessory to Own

Post by kayheem »

Hi all,

There are many members who have just got scopes and asking about eyepieces etc.

Other than specific eyepieces (e.g. Pentax XL, TV etc) and Barlows, what accessories would you recommend? It need not be an optical accessory. It may be a red LED torch, heat packs etc

For me, the accessory that 'wow-ed' me most is the binoviewer. You have not seen the moon or planets until you have looked through a binoviewer.

The views take on a pseudo-3D appearance and the detail you see is amazing. Jeremy tried it out on Mars using my generic 15mm Plossls and he was impressed. You should try it out if you can.

Mm, ok, how about a safari bed ?

I've got one and it works very well as a field observing chair ("3 seater" !), field table and field bed. I can't imagine going on any astro-expeditions without it.
