Mersing Expedition May 18-20

Post by rcj »

Hi all,

Once again, we will have an astronomy expedition to Mersing (3D2N) from May 18-20 (Friday to Sunday). If you would like to join us, you can be guaranteed milky way skies, with little or no mosquitoes buzzing around, plus lots of great company and even some astro friends coming from up north!

Trip Fees: SGD$180 will include 2-way a/c transport, a/c chalet accommodation, plus most meals.
Registration: starts now...

Note: Departure timing will likely be in the afternoon 2PM (working personnel need to take at least 0.5 day leave for Friday).

See you there!

Hi Remus
Have you been there recently? I was under the impression there is alot more light pollution there now. I take it you are observing at the chalet instead of the old "bald coconut" field?

Yes Rich, observing within the chalet grounds is fine. We are able to control the local lights, usually turning them off. Light pollution is still manageable. Definitely not as good as yester-years, but better than the other southernly locations. Join us if you can!

Hi,

This sounds interesting. Any prerequisites? Like minimum experience, must bring some astro-equipment etc.?
