where to get the eye pieces from?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

where to get the eye pieces from?

Post by khurram »

Hi guys,

I wanted to make some improvement in my beginners telescope and i thought the easiest will be to get a standard 1.25inch eyepiece to improve my viewing experience. I am.thinking of getting a 25 mm and a 10 mm (currently have 20mm and 4 mm) but in smaller sizes.

Just wanted to know if there is any shop in east or city center that you recommend? else i will head to science center shop in west. thanks .

Hello!
What scope are you using? Its important to know the details of your scope (type, aperture and focal ratio) so we can suggest eyepieces :)
Regarding EPs, Astrobargains has some for reasonable prices. If not, your next best bet is to ship in from the US or buying second hand from cloudynights or astromart.

if you want fast and dun mind the premium price, you can get from ssc. Overseas shipping usually takes 1 to 2 weeks but good news is the price is cheaper, actually anything u buy in sg is a few times the price.
Are you looking for premium EP or average use EPs? Televue are good but abit ex, but they are well known for the quality for both the views and the built. Else Kochu is selling a set of Meade P EP set, look around you can find his post

Your scope use 0.965" eyepiece? Hmm... A refractor? Does it have a 1.25" focuser? If no 1.25" focuser, 1.25" eyepiece is not very useful.

Anyway, many new scope package will come with a 25mm and 10mm eyepieces, so there should be quite a number of members here had them. I had a 25mm eyepiece ( http://www.skywatcher.com/swtinc/produc ... class2=502 ) that come with my 6" refractor that I never use. PM me if you are interested.

Have a nice day.

Dear All,

Thanks a bunch for the guidance. My Telescope is a Celestron Powerseeker 60az. I read on amazon review the following para, so I assume this should be compatible for upgrade with a standard eye piece. I think I will hold on from buying now because I might get to see Weixing for an observation session if all goes well.

Current eye pieces are Eyepiece 1 : 20 mm (0.79 in) and Eyepiece 2 : 4 mm (0.16 in) and esp the eyepiece 2 is harder to use. Thus the need to update.

Amazon Review
"The PowerSeeker 60 can be upgraded with standard 1.25 inch telescope eyepieces. A 25mm plossl eyepiece for example gives a true field of view of almost 2 degrees for delightful views of star clusters like the Pleiades, while a 6mm eyepiece provides a magnification of 117X, just right to see the rings of Saturn or the cloud bands on Jupiter."

Hi,
May be you can bring your scope along if there is obs on Friday/Saturday night, so that you can test it on some of my eyepieces... don't expect too much as I only had and use a few eyepiece.

Have a nice day.
