Wondering if I can get your opinions:
I recently bought a (cheap) scope mildly fungus-ed and I've cleaned it off the lens. I've also wiped off the OTA interior but I'm sure the fungal spores remain
The question is: Would you put this scope into the same dry cabinet used to store the other scopes you have?
I don't want to spread fungus spores into my other more expensive optics just to "protect" this one...

Here's a good DIY. Buy one of those UV money detector fluorescent bulbs, and rig it inside your dry cabinet, shining into the fungus scope. The UV light will kill the spores.
I believe I may have mentioned this before...

Home Fix has 'em. They are just regular fluorescent tubes but without the phosphor (the white coating inside the tube that converts the UV output of the mercury discharge to visible light).
So any regular desk lamp that can fit the bulb will drive them safely.

So who's going to "jagah" the scope while he's off to work?MooEy wrote:sunlight is free...

I think it is meant as a long term storage solution.

Bought this from Sim Lim Square for about $10. Runs on 4 AA size battery.
