I am a complete newbie in AP but just asking if the celestron 102slt refractor can do prime focus photography with a dslr .Thanks.

yes :)
You will probably need an extension tube to bring it to focus as it was designed to be used with a diagonal which typically adds some length to the light path.
You will also need a DSLR T ring to 2" adapter, specific to your brand of camera, to attach the camera to your focuser.
And of course you will need an EQ mount :)
