Testing lpr filter on Modded cam. M42

Post by kimo »

I have just modded my cam and bought a sky glow LPR filter. still not yet try on nebula due to hazy sky in my area. I am fighting with low alt photography within 10 to 40deg. took some sample of the exposure 10sec , 60sec and 240sec. 240sec looks pink, Camera custom WB. Any comments on it?

Noise? Try doing a 240s dark at the same ISO and see if its pink as well :)

Hi,
That's normal... it's cause by light pollution... worst now due to the haze.

Have a nice day.

Thanks. After some test realised that acceptable image was 1 -2 min exposure with LPR filter. I don't know if it is enough exposure for nubula photography? Thanks

As long as you can get at least 1 min exposure, you are good to go.

Have a nice day.

M42 H-alpha

Post by kimo »

No LPR...

I have taken M42 easy one. It is H-alpha Image (not RGB), Problem is, i don't know how to stack and process it in DSS or photoshop. I had done some stacking in photoshop using manual method. No dark frame or flats added.

Thanks.

DSS is really click and go. Just load all your pics then click "stack checked pictures".
Since you haven't registered or checked them yet, a diaglouge box will appear to help you along.
I use exclusively DSS so far for stacking.
Have fun! :)
