Hi,
I plan to have an observation session on friday(09 July 2004) night and saturday(10 July 2004) night at the grass field between the Tampines Swimming Complex main entrance, Mosque and the Tampines Sport Complex. I will be there at around 21:00 and the observation may start at around 21:30 when the flood light of the swimming complex is off.

Anyone who are interested can join me. Hope the recent good weather will last... Let keep all our fingers and toes cross and hope nobody buy any new scope!!! 8)

Have a nice day.

Hi,
Tonight 20:00.. saw the sky was quite clear... crux and jupiter was quite bright and got a few cloud in the sky moving toward north west at a fast speed... Check the satellite weather map... see a big patch of cloud in the north and east of singapore and seem that they are moving toward north.

21:00... In the field with all my equipments waiting for the sky to clear... got a big patch of cloud hovering above me... got a bad feeling :( ... Looking at north, the big patch of cloud at the north is still moving northward... seem like there a chance that the cloud will clear :).

21:40... The wind suddenly change direction and blowing toward the west... that will bring the big patch of cloud at the east toward singapore... :( And also the air got the smell of rain... it time to pack up... observation cancelled! :(

22:20... reach home and check the latest satellite weather map and saw a patch of cloud covering singapore!! I think the sky may clear at 4:00am, but I'm sleeping tonight!! :( :(

Hope tomorrow weather will be better!!! :( :(

Have a nice day anyway! :)

At my place yesterday, there were minimal clouds and only the large patches near horizon at 2200+h. I was only bothered to look south so i managed to see scorpius, centaurus, sagittaurus, and a few other faint dim stars which i failed to identify. Crux was covered by the clouds so i was not able to see it...

Hi Guys!

I'm new here, and firstly would like to thk WeiXing & his gang for letting me join their observation session on Sat nite. :D

I was already at Tampinese Mall at around 8pm when WeiXing msg me telling me the the session will be cancelled, but we met & he gave me a short intro on star watching. I was lucky as we talked, the sky cleared and the observation session on on again! (i must admit that I almost fainted when he started pouring on me all those talk of telescopes & their "techkie" details

Being my 1st time, can't express the joy of seeing the nite sky looking thru the telescopes. It was a totally different experience, & one that I would never forget :)

I was pretty lost with all their various jargons, but when I managed to trace out scorpius (my 1st constellation, wow!), saw what a nabulae is, and was told about the amazing twin star Alpha Centouri, it all made my staying up late till the wee hours in the morning worthwhile. Not to forget the wonderful view of the surface of the moon when it decided to come out around 3am!

Well, at present, I don't think I would want to bother myself with all the technical tickings of the confusing telescopes, just want to enjoy the stars, read and learn more about the nite skies & their "heavenly bodies", & to prepare myself abit for my next observation session!!!!!!

So to WeiXing & gang, pls pls don't forget to inform me on your next viewing (hope u don't mind me using abit of your "wonderful looking glasses") :P
