IC434/B33 + NGC2024 from the balcony

Post by orly_andico »

Last night was quite clear and I was tempted to join Gary at Changi Beach.

Then I got lazy and downgraded to "I will bring the mount downstairs so I can image Orion while it's still close to zenith."

Then I got even lazier and downgraded to "I will move the mount 1 meter so that it can image Orion earlier in the night before it gets too low in the west."

Result of 2 hours (6 x 20 minute subs) through an IDAS LPS-V4. I'm getting my H-A narrowband filter hopefully today so maybe I can try again tonight and see the difference.

Doing narrowband or fake narrowband with the LPS-V4 is really a challenge with a one-shot-color (OSC) camera. Sensitivity is poor.

i think a true h-a filter would give better results.

the bad news.. i succumbed to a "Great Deal!" $100 Omega/DGM Optics 10nm h-a filter... and it's astigmatic. [smilie=beaten.gif]
