Got my first scope - a Celestron C8! Got it from Micheal just today.
I spent the whole evening counting leaves on far-off trees, aligning the finder by looking at TV antennae, trying to take pictures of my infinite reflections in the tube and other types of tom-foolery.
Somehow so far, I've avoided the temptation to look into people's houses

Now night has fallen but nary a star in the sky

Thick, thick clouds in every direction. I looked at the weather forecast and it said "The Universe is enjoying it's oldest astro-joke on you, newbie!". I paraphrase, of course.
As I sit here and brood, I can't help wondering ... Did Galileo also face cloudy nights when he had just invented the telescope? Or did he catch the Universe unawares?
