Alright, this is for sharing of your observation experience. Or, if you are arranging gatherings, star-gazing expeditions or just want some company to go observing together, you can shout it out here.

SingAstroFest 2004 ...... Interested !!!

Post by Lee »

It had been a while since our last Astrofest in 2002.
Want to have a go before the year ends. We could make it
a much bigger and publicised event than the last.

First we need an organising commitee to look into the logistics
and program proper.

Draft Proposal ?
1. 2 days + 1 night event (Sat-Sun)
2. Public awareness of Singastro
3. Workshop & mini lectures
4. Vendor corner
5. Pasar Malam corner
6. Scope displays
7. Day & Night observation
8. ......

Date Proposal ?
1. Sept/Dec School Holidays
2. Sat-Sun with overnight
3.

Event Venue ?
1. Poly, School, etc w/access to MRT
2.

Attendee ?
Anyone with an interest

Budget ?
Vendors' sponsors, etc.

Advertising, promotion, ...

So, any interest ....................

Hey, that's a good idea. Now that there are so many types of scopes within Singastro, it would be good for the new members and the public to take a look.

We will need to make sure it does not clash with the exams of those in the polys.

I suggest having it in a school with easy access via public transport e.g. MRT.

Count me in as publicity and PR Manager! we can also include an astronomy syposium with guest speaker for discussion and future development of astronomy in this region. But we may need at least 6 months of preparation and fund to raise and sponsorship if possible, try also to invite local PM for official opening ceremony.

How much does it cost to post an ad in classifieds anyway?
That's a sure way to get publicity....

You can actually write to the person in charge of the 'Events' page on the second last page of the Lifestyle of Straits Times. Listings are all free but will have to be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance and subject to approval. IMHO, for our kind of events, I don't think there'll be any problem getting listed since they are very unique, educational and have considerable power to generate public interest.

Another simple way is to print simple posters and ask schools, CCs, RCs to put up on their notice boards.
