Yeah, the weather has been terrible with clouds. Even after raining, the sky is still totally covered with clouds. Hopefully this huge patch of clouds clear soon as i would want to catch the perseids.

noticed that too. Moon was shrouded by clouds even AFTER it rained heavily(downpour). According to my friend, this will clear in abt late september/october when the winds blow in the south east direction.

hmm, meaning we have to wait another month or two before getting really clear sky? by that time it will be near to the raining season again. sign :(
Let's hope the rain will clear soon, if not the various institutions astro society will have a hard time finding activities for their members.

Regards,
Sam

Yeah, my school recently had a overnight ob session on the 30th of July and it totally came up fruitless (from 6.30 pm to 5+ the next morning was covered with clouds). We only managed to see venus at about 6+ with our scopes.

Venus is not bad, I saw Venus all the way until nearly 7am in the sky last week. But the lousy skies really do look like a few new scope curses combined..
