CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Hi all, sharing my images from recent family holiday to Thailand. Finally got the chance to image through my newly acquired 70ED from one of our fellow members here. Total exposure after stacking is about 1 hr for each. Taken from Koh Samet, quite a bit of pollution haze in the sky when I was there, transparency was not exactly good.
Comments welcomed! Still sort of a greenhorn to imaging... Ok maybe not anymore now ;)
Horsehead and Flame Nebulae by joachimong, on Flickr
Forgot to remove my diffraction mask when I started imaging this. Really beat myself hard one hour later when I found out. More than half the subs had the mask so image could have been much better
Nice shots joachim...thanks for sharing. You managed to capture the horsehead which is quite a challenging object. Maybe because the year of the horse is coming, its making itself more prominent!

"The importance of a telescope is not how big it is, how well made it is.
It is how many people, less fortunate than you, got to look through it."

If I recall the scope and flattener came from me... those images are much much better than anything I got out of that gear. It's good to see that you're putting it to much better use than I ever did..
@orly_andico yep scope came from you. Not using the autoguider yet as my pc doesnt seem to want to connect to my CG-5. Havent bothered to troubleshoot yet haha.
