Observation Session: 21 Aug 2004

Post by weixing »

Hi,
I plan to have an observation session on saturday night 21 Aug 2004 at the grass field between the Tampines Swimming Complex main entrance, Mosque and the Tampines Sport Complex. I will be there at around 21:00 and the observation may start at around 21:30 when the flood light of the swimming complex is off. I'll be there as long as it doesn't rain.

Anyone who are interested can join me. Hope the weather will be good.

Have a nice day.

Hi folks:

I started my meteor recording at home after 1 am (8/21) , the satellite weather maps indicated good opportunity for cloud breaks SW of us

So I close to 2 am I walked to a few nearby , and was surprised to see the wet pavement - it had rained slightly earlier which explained why my wooden-extension sticking outside my 12th storey study window felt wet.

Arriving at the field I looked up, sky was pretty decent. I could even make out mag 4+ stars! The dimmer companions (beta) of altair was visible. Encouraged by the better- than- average moon-free sky I stood here for the next 1/2 hr no meteors were seen but I had a good visual of the summer triangles , Pegasus square, cassiopeia. It was nice to be with the stars, alone and quiet.

Possible repeat tonight? Lets see..

Hi fellas,
Last night after 2am, the sky opened up and became quite clear...but by then I was a little sleepy so did not want to risk driving in this condition...hopefully the others made it worth the while...hope tonight is as good.
btw, as remus is holding a session at one of singastro's traditional obs site, why not join him there and pool our resources instead of splitting into several places?
i really do hope the sky clears up and hold , so I can at least run my "rusty" 105 gears!

meanwhile, will catch jiawei now to see if singapore can realise her medal dream....
