Hey dudes, just wanna ask about the part of the moon we see. Is it true that we see the same side of the moon every day of the year; since they already have moon maps showing only a part of the moon, e.g fixed location of Mare Crisium.
Thanks.

yeah ...we can only see 1 side of the moon all our lives... sigh ..
although it's true that we only see 1 face of the moon
with libration, more than 50% of the moon can be seen, though at any one time a maximum of 50% of the moon can be seen. The Moon rotates exactly once per revolution around the Earth, so we can only see one side of the moon.

For all you 'lunatics' out there, take a look at this pic of the moon throughout lunation.FIRNALDO wrote:Hey dudes, just wanna ask about the part of the moon we see. Hi,
You can do an experiment:
Put a chair in the middle of a room and move around the chair showing your face at the chair all the time, you will notice that you have rotated once per revolution around the chair.
This is also what happen to the moon, it take around the same time to rotate once as it orbit around the earth once.
Have a nice day.

The sun will also see one side of earth if earth take the same time to rotate once as it orbit the sun once. That mean the time for 1 day = 1 year... Ha Hawhereas when earth orbits sun, the sun can see all of earth's sides.

Have a nice day.
