Clear Sky Network

Post by Airconvent »

With CC flown off to US for his holiday-cum-work and current bad skies, the traditional clear sky network at Dempsey is all but dissipated until his return.
I suspect Matthew may be quietly keeping it alive there but I know previously there were quite a few people looking to branch into sub-groups including Charlie and David Lian...I know this fragmentation is no good but at least it keeps the hobby alive for some of us.

So far, only the CSN-ED (Singastro Clear Sky Network -Eastern Detachment ) is alive and well, thanks to Fleet Commanding Officer, Weixing.

Most of the other detachments have all but disappeared....sigh..
Hopefully when the sky clears up, the various divisions will regroup...

In the meantime, I guess the primary focus would be on Singastro Festival 2004. Just a reminder to help publicise it when you meet up for your individual observation sessions...

you are forgetting the detachment for Mersing Platoon...
Frankly speaking, I've given up on observing in Singapore. I'm too spoilt for Mersing skies...

Hi
I left out Mersing as it not some place you can pack and go in 1 hr.
Mersing would be more like a "holidat" detachment :-)
Many astromomers lose interest in singapore skies once they go to mersing but while the view is spectacular there, it would be a satisfying challenge to look for faint objects in singapore....
Manual astronomy is like fishing....catching fish is a bonus...most important you enjoy the process and the interaction with your friends during the wait...
Ironical that I should say this since I'm a goto guy!

its quite unpredictable....but judging from the high number of hurricanes, I would assume the monsoon may start early than late but that does not mean it will rain everyday! depends on your luck and if any new scope being rbought there! :D
