New image: Stephan's Quintet

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

New image: Stephan's Quintet

Post by tanguan2001 »

Hi all,

First of 3 images taken on that fantastic clear night last Tuesday with the mod EOS300D.

Galaxies in Pegasus, with NGC 7331 and Stephan's Quintet in the same frame. Note also the little edge-on spiral in the bottom right corner. Also note the significantly redder colour of the galaxies (except curiously that little edge-on one). Look carefully and you may be able to see some spiral structure in NGC 7319 (bottom left-most of the 5 galaxies).

Got down to mag 17 with 30 x 60s exposure. So it's possible to image fairly faint galaxies from Sinpapore!

Next image to be processed will be NGC 55.

Hi,
Got problem seeing the image if you directly left-click the link. You can actually save the image by using right-click and "save as...".

Have a nice day.

Hi TG

Stephen's Quintet is a difficult subject. To say that it is beautifully captured is an understatement.

Cheers
