What's the problem?
Hi, being very new to astronomy, I saw this bright object that I thought to be a planet (Venus) and tried to focus on it with my new Nexstar 4SE but this is what I get. What went wrong? I was using the standard eyepiece at that time. Thanks in advance!

You haven't reach focus yet ......... keep on turning the focus knob in the right direction so the donut get smaller and smaller. It can take a few dozen turns that seem to go on forever.

Thanks! I realized it yesterday and focused till Venus became a small bright dot.. I suppose that's pretty much the most I can see of Venus?

Yes. Unless you dimmed down the light further, Venus will be too glaring on a scope.
