modified green laser

Post by elton »

Thinking of getting a modified green from Wickedlasers.com

They are running a 50% offer on second purchase. Anyone interested in getting one too? I'm thinking of the Wicked Advanced. About US$150 + shipping. Pls message me if interested. Details of the product can be found at wickedlasers.com.

Also open to hearing comments on the usage of green lasers.

seen mr au use at a malaysia trip before. i think it's very useful in pointing out objects/areas in the sky, esp for newbies cos sometimes it's hard to figure out where in heaven you're pointing to during ob sessions, they just dunno where to look. my school was thinking of getting one until we found out the cost :k-crazy:

i doubt green lasers will produce the beautiful beam of green light, seen at the malaysia trip, over here. Too much light pollution to interfere with the light.

We had a 800,000 candela powertank which produced a fine beam of light at segamat but was reduced to almost nothing here in singapore.

You should be able to see the laser beam in Singapore, if you use a Laser >20mW.

Anyway, found the following:
In Singapore, any one found using class 3b & 4 lasers without licence would be charged for violating the Act and could be fined up to maximum of not than $10,000 or imprisonment for a term of not exceeding 12 months or both.

Have a nice day.

I received one from Persied. Their prices are much very attractive.
Perhaps he can chip in a little bit of info here.

It works as advertised, even in light polluted skies.

Amateur astronomy green lasers are usually Class IIIe.
Nothing fancy, it cant even hurt a mosquito.

Is there a class IIIe??? :k-?: I only know that class III is divided to Class IIIa and Class IIIb.

Have a nice day.

Hi Guys,
As mentioned by Matthew, we do have green laser for sale. They are Class IIIa, which are <5mW. Typical unmodified green laser range from as low as 1mW to over 4mW. The modified ones are above 4mW but still less than 5mW.
Even the unmodified green laser is claimed to be 50 times brighter than red laser, with a range of 4km. You can try this by holding your laser by the binocular and aim it at faraway objects. You can even look through binocular at a certain star and have someone point the laser at the star. It will appear as if the laser beam reaches the star.
It may be a bit difficult to see the laser beam if you are in a badly polluted area, but in dark area, it is a different story.
I have initial order of 10 lasers last month, but sold all by two. If the response is good, I will get 10 more.
The price is RM330 (that's approximately SGD145?) I'll ship free to you.

Please send email to
perseid@streamyx.com

CK

Oh boy, looks like its not such a good idea to get one then. And even if i did, its not such a good idea to advertise here anyway. :?
