Title: Short notes on USM Astro Convention at Penang.

Hi all,

Five of us , Matthew, Carol, Mingzhi (sorry if I misspelt) ,another
young guy and myself attended the USM Convention representing
Singapore.

Matthew , apart from being a good astronomer is a good driver also. We
zipped to Penang in less than 8 hrs. Highway Patrol was mercifully
absent on both laps.

The Convention was a huge success organisationally as well as from the
response from Public was concerned.

Only the weather was a letdown. But Organisers had had arranged a
live hook-up with some Hawaiian Observatory for zooming in images of
Saturn etc. for the amusement of VIPs and the big crowd.

CK (Persied) is an excellent host and one can never forget his
hospitality. It was a rare experience to witness the dedication of
whole of CK's family towards Astronomy. Our best wishes to CK and
family.

We also made acquaintances with few other nice gentlemen like Tommy.

Matthew's 12 inch Refractor, as could be expected was an attention
grabber. It even attracted a young lady reporter who took his
interview. May be his name will see the light of the day in one of
the Malaysian News papers.

Whatever happens , Matthews Scope will never catch cold. It is well
covered with a thick blanket like carpet . Somehow it vaguely
reminded me of King Kong (With due apologies to Matthew).
