21 Jan 2005 Observation Session: A brief report

Post by weixing »

Hi,
Yesterday night, Daniel & Wife, Clement Goh, John Teh and me went to the new "Dark site" in changi for an observtaion session. Airconvent also manage to join us very "early"... I mean very early in the next morning (22 Jan 2005) after I keep pestering him... ha ha ha...
:k-lol: :k-happy: :k-evil:

The sky was very clear whole night, but I didn't expect to see much and only intend to have a short one, because of the big moon in the sky! To my surprise, we can actually see a lot in that area, even galaxy M81 & M65 using Daniel Meade LX90... OK, it just show a very faint small patch of fussy light, but it there!! And in the end, we observe till 4am in the morning!

Anyway, We also manage to see the planetary nebula in M46 and see more in the 22 Jan 2005 morning, when the southern sky come to life... NGC 3532, Omga Centuria and Eta Carinae Nebula was nice!

By the way, the new "Dark Site" is located deep in the Changi coast walk... on a bicycle trail that connected to the east coast park. Hope to go there again soon when no big moon in the sky.

Have a nice day.

Yes, it is a Great location... huge open space, nice sea breeze, strongly recommend it except is inconvenient for those without transport.. Of course.. would be greater if the opposite trees are shorter... haha! Had a great time looking at the sky... very fruitful nite.... :k-happy:

Yap.. Weixing, let's do it again .... better enjoy the great spot before the 'local authority' decides to start 'planting' lamp posts ...
:k-shock:

WeiXing is in his usual location (Tampines) today, you can join him... (anyway you forgot to bring back your director's chair .. so you must go claim from Weixing). As for the 2 of us... still a little bit zoombie! :k-crazy: But may drop-by without our scope!

As for the Changi location, maybe to arrange during New Moon period (week after?) ...
