Meade Deep Sky Imager

Post by lowrobin »

Hi, Sing Astronomers:

The new Meade Deep Sky Imager at US$299.00 is a very good start for CCD imaging in terms of cost effectiveness, any Meade Vendors in Singapore wish to promote this item in this region? And what would be the cost for bulk purchase? I am sure this would be a HOT ITEM in 2005.

Happy New Year!

cost is almost the same as a second hand Canon 300D body. Might as well go for the dslr.

ps: check out matthew's peltier-cooled ccd camera as well, http://home.pacific.net.sg/~audioworks/ ... le_002.htm , it uses the same chip as the new SAC10

Hi ariefm,

Meade Imager uses a different CCD chip which is not the normal commercial available Digital Camera CCD chip due to the longer exposure time required for astro imaging I supposed, and they are made specially for this purpose plus photo processing software .

i saw more nice pictures coming from the 300d (jy, mcym, tg, etc) than the dsi, it also cost less and weight less as you don't need to lug your laptop :-)

ps: join deepskyimager yahoo group and see some pictures taken from it, don't just compare with our singastro astrophotographers results
