For Sale : Meade ETX90RA - SOLD

Post by Airconvent »

For Sale :
Meade ETX90RA complete with forkmount, box, finderscope but NO eyepiece.

History Of Scope :
I bought this second from Hommel about 2 years ago, who bought this from the US in 1996 for over $1400. It comes with working RA drive and forkmount but since I don't polar align and the mount is bulky, I removed the OTA from mount and using it as a very small and portable scope. I sold this scope off once and bought it back from the same person when I missed how small and compact it is. Fits into a camcorder bag!

Description :
This is the same exact configuration as Chris' scope during Singastro Festival. And by the way, in case you are not familiar, this is the original non-goto version with manual mechanical controls. Scope is in excellent condition with spot on collimation. This scope is much better than the C90 imho and has a smaller central obstruction.

What's Included :
1. ETX90 OTA
2. Fork Mount and Working RA drive + Original Box
3. Original 26mm eyepiece excluded.
4. Original finder is not in very good condition when I bought it as the rubber cup has been cut off. I have replaced with with a right angle finder (which I bought from Looi (Meade KL) for $140 excluding shipping!).
This is the exact same finder you get with the ETX105 and ETX125. Will save your knee as you don't need to kneel at an odd agnle to look through the finder.

I will include this free in place of the original finder. You will not get the original crap finder as I can't remember where I put it. One day I'll try to find it and perhaps used it as a day telescope or something...

The OTA is currently separated from the fork mount but I can reassemble it back if you want it that way. I guarantee you that you will remove the mount once you see how compact it is without it. Most ETX90RA guys I know do this.

Have an opportunity to upgrade the aperture so selling to finance the new scope. Please PM me with contact if you are interested.

Selling $350 , slightly negotiable. Fits perfectly on a 410 head without the mount. Set is complete less the 26mm eyepiece as I am keeping it to make my Meade eyepiece set complete.

Thanks!
rich

How time flies. I can't recall if the Physical Space exist as a company at that time, but I am quite sure this is the very first ETX to arrive in Singapore though I can't say where I bought it from.

This was my first post on Mike Weasner's ETX site back in December 1996.

Hello Mike
Thanks for your page, I am staying in Singapore, probably one of the
few here who owns this great little scope. I guess because of the
portability, a lot of us will be moving this scope around quite a bit.
To protect the OTA, you could, try purchasing three wrist bands and slip
it onto the OTA, this way you could resist dents; absorbs shock; absorbs
moisture; and prevents fingerprints/dirt from landing on the beautiful
aluminium body. Hope this bit helps.

We sold our 1st ETX to incidentally to another Jeffrey Lim for a special price of S$1400 at that time. Normal price is S$1600 w/o tripod.

Richard, I bought a similar one last year from a singastro guy for S$320 (thinks he bought in US the same year). I want to get another one as a spare. If you are willing to let go at S$200 I will get it from you.

hi allan,
yes. I'm selling everything including the forkmount but less the eyepiece.
Have edited my original post to make it more clear.
Have also decided to include the right angle finder to justify the asking price..heh heh
Please PM me with contact if you're still interested.
