Mosaic of Eta Carinae nebula in H alpha

Post by tanguan2001 »

All,

Have started making a mosaic of the Eta C region in H alpha. Mosaic of 2 images is at this page.

Also started to use Neat Image for noise reduction - default settings are not good, but less aggressive ones give decent results.

View in full screen mode - the pic is big! Don't know about you, but the nebulosity suggests some strange things to me - a crab, a duck and even a skier! What do you see?

So far only 2 images together, but I hope to enlarge the coverage.

This mosaic has now been extended to include 4 frames, covering about 2 deg of sky north-south.
