actually it depends on your needs. cheaper stuff may mean less bite....

nah..f/l too short..looking for something around 1000+ f/l scope within about $450...

from the looks of things, you have only 2 choices.
a second hand ETX90 or C90 OTA with no tripod OR if you are lucky and willing to pay abit more, can hunt for a ex-stock ETX90RA in the US. With shipping, they can be bought around $500+ if you can still find them.

I wrote to Jim asking for test sample of the Vixen shortube.

If it is good, 650 bucks is a good price...

Have not heard from him yet, but if he is confident of his product, I am sure he will let me test.

Vixen short tube (achro) 80 f/5 is a nice light grab and go scope.. I used to have an older version which I sold recently to make way for wider aperture 100-120mm f/5-f/6 scope.. if you can get it at 500, its worth it..
